
The Return of Kapaemahu (Free Hula Show - Wednesdays 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM)
The Return of Kapaemahu shares the long-hidden story of the Healer Stones of Kapaemahu— Hawaiʻi’s unique monument to healing and inclusion -- as a live hula performance steps from the site of the sacred stones on Waikīkī Beach where the healers once lived and performed their miraculous cures. This extraordinary production is composed and directed by hula master Patrick Makuakāne, the first Native Hawaiian recipient of the MacArthur Foundation Genius Award.

Kama‘āina Sundays (second Sundays of the month)
Kamaʻāina Sunday | 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
ʻIolani Palace welcomes all residents to Kamaʻāina Sunday when guests can explore the Palace, immerse themselves in Hawaiian culture, taste ‘ono food, support local vendors, enjoy lively entertainment, and more. The free event is held on the second Sunday of every month.
Self-led audio tours will be available for the first 500 attendees. A valid Hawaiʻi State ID, Hawaiʻi driver’s license, or proof of Hawaiʻi residency is required for each complimentary ticket. One complimentary ticket per Hawaiʻi resident. Kamaʻāina are encouraged to come early!
Kamaʻāina Sunday’s entertainment and workshops are supported by Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority through the Kūkulu Ola Program.

2025 Queen Lili'uokalani Keiki Hula Competition (Hula 'Auana)
A yearly event for keiki (children) ages 6-12 that brings together hula hālau from all of the Hawaiian Islands and Japan to perform and compete for the coveted Miss and Master Keiki Hula Awards along with Kahiko and 'Auana competitions that award for best keikikāne (boys) and kaimakahine (girls) in the top 5 places. Recognition is also given to the top hālau for Hawaiian Language ('Olelo) Awards as well as for the Overall Winning hālau for their best in the overall keikikāne (boys) and kaimakahine (girls) competitions.

Christmas with the Makaha Sons - 2024
The Makaha Sons have received numerous proclamations and awards both in Hawai’i and in the continental U.S. for their continuous and undying efforts in perpetuating the Hawaiian culture through their music. Their peers in music have also acknowledged their efforts by awarding them countless “Na Hoku Hanohano Awards” for their timeless recordings and steadfast commitment to the music of Hawai‘i. They have released 22 CD’s, thus far.

Mali'o – A Hawaiian Music Concert of Women
Mali'o is a mythical woman renowned for entertaining with music and for her ability in love magic. Like her, these wahine hold a special place in mele Hawaii. Each plays an instrument, complimenting the ono of their leo. Whether it’s the ukulele, steel guitar, bass, or guitar, they weave the tapestry of the mele with the chords of their instrument. They sing, breathing life into the mele, keeping the haku mele’s moolelo alive in the hearts of the listeners. This event is designed to bring the extraordinary wahine music makers together on one stage and showcase how we preserve, promote, and perpetuate mele Hawaii through the generations and around the world!

Aloha Festivals Royal Court Investiture Opening Ceremony & Celebration
The Royal Court Investiture and Opening Ceremony will kick off the month-long Aloha Festivals celebration with its treasured cultural protocols. The evening will begin with The Royal Court Investiture. In a stately ceremony that honors Hawaiʻi’s aliʻi (ruling chiefs), this year’s Aloha Festivals Royal Court will don regalia worn only by aliʻi of the highest rank. As representatives of Hawaiʻi’s past, the Aloha Festivals Royal Court ensures the festival is rooted in the most cherished traditions of Hawaiʻi. Following the Investiture, the Opening Ceremony will feature hula and musical performances for a special evening in the heart of Waikīkī.

The 30th Annual Hula ʻOni E Hula Festival - Day 3
More than 30 hula hālau will gather in Waikīkī at the end of the month for the Hula ʻOni E Hula Festival.
Presented by Hālau Hula ʻO Hokulani, this year's event marks its 30th year and prides itself on perpetuating hula traditions and culture for practitioners and spectators alike. The festival also features a craft fair of 40 local vendors from across the State of Hawaiʻi.
Hula hālau from Oʻahu, Maui, Hawaiʻi Island and Japan will be participating in the festival contest and a hālau from Europe will perform.
The hula competition invites haumāna (students) ages six and up to participate in showcasing ʻauana and kahiko (modern and ancient) styles. The festival craft fair features dozens of local vendors and their Hawaiʻi made products of Hawaiian designs and various local snacks. The craft fair is free and open to the public. The hula festival requires a ticket.
