The Creative City supports culture and arts education, fellowships and initiatives on O‘ahu.


After School Youth Arts Program

In collaboration with Honolulu’s Downtown Art Center, The Creative City helped bring more than 50 students age 5–15 to the Youth Arts Program at Kalihi Valley District Park, The Towers at Kuhio Park and Lanakila Elementary School.


Creative Collaboration at WCCC

The Creative City supports Edgy Lee and the Women’s Prison Project wall murals initiative.


The Creative City Supports Hawaii Filmmaker

The Creative City is a Bronze Sponsor of James Sereno’s premiere of his new film, “Growing Up Local.”


SHADE Summer Institute

The Creative City is a proud partner of the 2023 Shade Summer Institute, including Fellows from the University of Southern California, Pratt Institute and National University of Singapore.


Jazz in the Park ENCORE

Music lovers from all over the island attended the free concert at Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park in Chinatown, presented by The Creative City.



Brightening Kalihi and Palama with Murals

The Creative City is a Supporting Sponsor of Jasper Wong’s World Wide Walls and the mural initiative for the Kalihi and Palama neighborhoods.


Jazz in the Park Brings Chinatown Alive

Presented by The Creative City, Jazz in the Park featured local talent Mango Season, plus Kelsea Armstrong + The Honolulu Jazz Quartet.


The Creative City Supports Local Musicians

Music in the Park was the inaugural event at the newly renovated Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park in Honolulu’s Chinatown. Presented by The Creative City and sponsored by Central Pacific Bank, the event featured Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards winners.


700 Students Attend The Nutcracker’s Angel Night

The Creative City is honored to be a part of The Nutcracker’s Angel Night, presented by Ballet Hawaii. Students from nine Oahu schools were entertained and delighted with a lavish Hawaiian-theme presentation of this holiday tradition.


The Creative City is an Exhibit Sponsor for the Bishop Museum’s Backyard Adventure

Backyard Adventure is an interactive exhibit for kids, including Go and Grow, where kids plant seeds from Native Hawaiian plants, and take it home to watch it grow.

“To Resound Forever,” a free concert on October 14, 2022 at Hawai‘i Theatre Center, featuring the Royal Hawaiian Band, Amy Hānaiali‘i Gilliom, Nathan Aweau, and other talented local performers!


Pū Hala with Memory at Honolulu Hale

The Creative City was pleased to support local artist, Amber Khan. The collaborative community project, included the Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts, Aupuni Space and Pu‘uhonua Society. Held in September 2022, the bigger-than-life sculptures pay tribute to Hawai‘i’s past, present and future.


The Creative City Partners with Create With Clay Hawai‘i

Through support from The Creative City, Rayna Galati, founder of Create With Clay Hawai‘i, shared her passion for clay and teaching with students from Ka‘iulani Elementary School and Likelike Elementary School, Summer 2022.


The Creative City Supports Free Concerts for Keiki

The Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra performed Peter and the Wolf at the City and County of Honolulu’s Mission Memorial Auditorium, in English, ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i and Tahitian, March/April 2022.


The Creative City Supports Sandy Beach Park Mural

Partnering with Jasper Wong and artist, Luke Dekneef, the mural was installed in December 2021. It honors lifeguards Lt. Josh “Goat” Guerra (1976-2018) and WSOII Joy Mills-Ferren (1970-2018).
