DAC presents From the HEART: Celebrating Historic Downtown Honolulu - Sunset Arts Market

A two-day celebration of our vibrant, historically-important neighborhood and its creative community!

Hosted in partnership with resident historian Gary Coover and the Fort Street Mall Business Improvement District, the event also marks DAC’s 5-year anniversary of hosting local arts exhibitions.

Sunset Arts Market: An evening arts market in Wilcox Park at Fort Street Mall will feature local arts and crafts vendors, food, live music, and more! The event aims to engage and inform the community about the rich, vibrant history of Honolulu’s historic Downtown district.

Exploring Art for Young People Grades K-2 with Fae Yamaguchi (4 Saturday Sessions)

SERIOUS FUN! SATURDAY CLASSES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Series of classes designed to be fun, teach the basics of visual arts and spur the creative spirit. Classes will be small and all current state protocols for safety and social distancing will be strictly observed.

4 Saturday sessions: April 9, 16, 23, 30, 2022
10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Instructor: Fae Yamaguchi
Tuition: $130 (supplies included)
Classes limited to 12 students

DAC Performance Room

Students will create 2D and 3D artworks in a fun and creative atmosphere. They will work in different media, such as drawing, painting, and printmaking, and will use various mixed media to create sculptural artworks. Students will be encouraged to experiment and freely express themselves.

Creativity Takes Courage! -Matisse

Students will engage in drawing and painting exploration that will inspire them to learn about Thiebaud, Romero Britto, Monet, Van Gogh, Georgia O’Keefe, and other famous artists, as well as finding the creative artist within. Using the tools and techniques of charcoal, pastel, pens and paint media, students will improve their skills and free their artistic expression. We are communicators… We are problem solvers… We are artists!

Every Friday and Saturday, HoMA remains open until 9pm with safe, engaging ways to experience all the museum has to offer.

Explore the galleries, stargaze in the courtyards, enjoy live art experiences and music, and connect with the museum community.

Drop-in art making: Express yourself February 20—March 18: Fridays 5–8pm

​Drop in to HoMA’s Kīna‘u Courtyard for art activities. This month, express yourself with a portrait challenge. How will your creativity tackle each challenge and inspire your drawing? All ages are welcome, from keiki to kupuna. Art supplies are included. Activities are free to join with general admission.

Hawaii’s Musicians Fridays 5:30 - 8:30 PM

The Café hosts performances from some of Hawaii’s best up-and-coming musicians on Friday nights.
